The Difference Between Righteous and Sinful Anger

An Alternative to Traditional Marriage Counseling

The Following is an excerpt from our book, Angry Without a Cause (Click Here to Order).

1. Righteous anger causes people to stick with the facts. Unrighteous anger inspires people to revert to name calling, belittling, et cetera.

2. Righteous anger causes people to deal with real issues; whereas, unrighteous anger provokes people to make their case based on assumption.

Many times, we like to assume things that are not actually present in a situation because our angry spirits cause our minds and emotions to be like children at an amusement park. They are frantically looking for something to ride.

3. Righteous anger does not prohibit you from exhibiting the fruits of the Spirit, like love, joy, peace, longsuffering, meekness, and SELF-CONTROL. Unrighteous anger will ensure that you are bitter, tense, rude toward others, and OUT OF CONTROL.

4. Righteous anger will cause you to desire that others experience a genuine sense of conviction over their sin. Unrighteous anger produces feelings of inferiority in other people.

5. Righteous anger inspires individuals to address cores issues. Unrighteous anger focuses on petty issues.

6. Righteous anger tends to produce a belief system that promotes a well-balanced Christian life. Unrighteous anger drives people toward unhealthy extremes (even in the name of God).

7. Righteous anger inspires people to handle conflict in a Biblical manner. Unrighteous anger usually leads to gossip and unfruitful conversations about others.
